Privacy policy

Last updated: November 2026.

This policy explains what personal data 1st Modern handles when you use this website, and why.

1st Modern, Nygatan 1, 652 20 Karlstad, Sweden, is the data controller. Questions about your data can be sent to gustav@1stmodern.com.

  • Purchase requests: your name, email address, country, street address and message. We use them to answer your request, give a shipping quote, invoice you and deliver your order. The legal basis is taking steps towards, and performing, a contract with you.
  • Wishlist emails: your email address and the products on your list, when you ask us to send you your list or to remind you about it. Every reminder has an unsubscribe link. The legal basis is your request.
  • Emails you send us: whatever you choose to include. We use it to reply to you.
  • Visitor statistics: pages viewed, products viewed, and the site you came from. We use this to understand how the website is used, based on our legitimate interest in improving it.

We don't use cookies for statistics or advertising. Our statistics tool runs on our own server and sets no cookies. Your wishlist and currency choice are saved in your own browser, and stay there unless you ask us to email your list.

We keep purchase requests for as long as we need them to handle the request and any later questions about it. Accounting records, such as invoices, are kept for seven years, as Swedish law requires.

We never sell your data. We share it only with the companies that help us run the shop, and only as far as needed:

  • Hetzner, which hosts the website and its database in the EU.
  • Zoho (ZeptoMail), which delivers the emails the website sends.
  • Svenska Domäner, which hosts our email.
  • The carrier delivering your order, which receives your name and address.

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict how we use it, object to its use, or receive a copy of it. Email gustav@1stmodern.com. Some data, such as accounting records, must be kept by law.

If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, imy.se).
